John 1:5 – “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.”
How are you is a statement people habitually ask only to get the casual response of, “Good, and you?”…
But this evening, I’m curious to know how are you really during this holiday break?
If I can be honest, as I watched my daughter open her gifts all I could think of was the dishes that needed to be washed, my room that was horrifically filthy, and the bill I had yet to pay…
My mind was so clouded. Dark. As much as I wanted to force myself to enjoy the moment…I was struggling internally. I found myself wanting to get “things done” off of my endless to-do list while I have the time off.
However, John 1:5 stuck out to me in my quiet time this evening. That’s exactly how satan tries to tie us down in darkness: endless to-do list, lies of inadequacy, and reminders of who is not there.
But faithfully, God still shines His light on us through His son.
In Matthew 11:28-30 Jesus says, “Come to me all who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you. Let Me teach you because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”
As much as satan wants me, us, to be hidden underneath his darkness of lies and deceit…it’s not going to happen! The light of the Lord cannot be put out!
Therefore, I proclaim this evening that there is a yoke exchange between the Lord and His daughters!
Enjoy the rest of this break with your child(ren)…making memories!
