1 John 3:20 – “Even if we feel guilty, God is greater than our feelings, and He knows everything.” NLT
Trying to deal with a break-up one night, I dropped my daughter off with a friend. I was in need of some alone time to fight through these negative feelings I was having. [SN: Its important to protect our babies from our meltdowns. Children sense pain, and they feel helpless to help us. Which in turn creates tension within them. On the other hand it is good for them to see us worship because it shows them how to go before God with a thankful heart. I’ll talk about that in another post!]
Ephesians 6:12 – “For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits.” NLT
In Matthew 12, Jesus uses a parable about how an “evil” spirit operates. They look around for “empty” places to consume. Then when they find one, they go get some more of their buddies (stronger than itself) to help them take over the empty place. When I read this God gave me this awesome revelation, “Just because your home is clean does not mean it is operating in a CLEAN spirit.” In other words, you have to give your belongings to somebody. Jesus says, “You’re either with me or against” (paraphrasing).
Psalm 91:9-12 “If you make the Lord your refuge, if you make the Most High your shelter, no evil will conquer you; no plague will come near your home. For He will order His angels to protect you wherever you go. They will hold you up with their hands so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone.” NLT 🙂
So, with that being said I have started playing Pandora from the time I wake-up until the time I go to bed! No worries, it is playing through Wi-Fi on the IPad. Therefore, I am not using too much electricity or a data plan! I purposefully set the atmosphere in my home. Sometimes it is (naturally) clean or often dirty with toys, clothes, etc. But at the end of the day, playing music is my sign to God, as well as the enemy, that this [MY HOME] is no where near vacant! The Spirit of God has all rights to THIS place! Be real with the enemy!
2 Corinthians 12:9 – “…He said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” NLT
Back to me trying to deal with my negative emotions! As I was on my way home, I was a hot mess. I was feeling guilty and kept playing thoughts in my mind that I had messed up. I was tripping! The tears just kept coming as I dropped my daughter off and was headed to my place. At this point, I would like to imagine the enemy on my tail ready to devour me in the state of mind I was in.
Up until, I GOT HOME…
Once again, I want to imagine an angel of Heaven’s Army at my door, cutting the enemy off as I went in and shut the door. Like, completely cutting off the enemy’s tread into my home. He blocked the enemy, so I would not fall. Why is this important?!
Well, like I mentioned earlier I like to play Pandora up until I wake up and to when I lay my head down at night. I even leave it playing while I’m gone! So, when I walk into my home Israel & New Breed’s song, “Nothing Else Matters” is playing on Pandora. My atmosphere was set to comfort my weeping spirit. Remember, my mind was already off to the races and trying to ward off an attack from the enemy, by myself, (probably) would have been really hard. But thank God for that song! It’s lyrics reminded me that nothing else matters. Even when I feel like throwing in the towel the Spirit is there to remind me that nothing else matters but seeking MY Jesus.
2 Chronicles 2:15 – “…This is what the Lord says: Do not be afraid! Don’t be discouraged by this mighty army, for the battle is not yours, but God’s.” NLT
Talk about being lifted out of defeat. Here I am being comforted and renewed by the Spirit, and protected at the same time! God is amazing! The enemy almost had this chick, but God had my front AND my back. All because I let Him have reign in my home. Thank God I’ll never know how my night would have ended had I not already had my atmosphere set. ❤
Isaiah 41:13 – “For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, ‘Do not fear; I will help you.’ ” NIV
